General Manager Ray Simms Stepping Down from LABTEC

Envirolab Group has announced that General Manager, Ray Simms, is stepping down Friday, 27 July 2018.

Ray will be succeeded by André Louw, Laboratory Manager, who joined LABTEC in October 2017.

Following the acquisition of LABTEC on the 1 July 2017 by Envirolab Services (NZ) Ltd, a subsidiary of the Envirolab Group, Ray has continued as General Manager of LABTEC over the last year. After which, Ray will continue to remain instrumental and keep in touch in a Strategic Advisory role in between indulging in his passion for travel and various other interests.

Ray said, “After more than 10 years of leading LABTEC, I am proud of everything we have achieved.”

“The time is right for me to enjoy a much deserved break. I wish the company and the team every success.”

Managing Director of Envirolab Group, Tania Notaras, thanked Ray for his significant role in LABTEC and recently with the Envirolab Group over the last year.

“Ray is an extraordinary and passionate leader whose contribution as LABTEC’s founder has been pivotal to its success today.”

“I want to recognise the significant role of Ray, and the great affection and respect we have for him.”

“Whilst we are sad to see Ray move on as General Manager of LABTEC, we are pleased that we will still keep in touch and continue to leverage Ray’s deep commitment to clients and industry understanding in an advisory capacity.”

Tania said Ray’s successor was selected following an exhaustive and extremely difficult recruitment process.

“Ray has built a great business and we don’t want to change the direction of an already successful business.”

“We are proud to have André as the Laboratory Manager. André brings a wealth of industry experience to LABTEC and the Envirolab Group.”

“Whilst the science sector is facing so much change, we believe that André was the ideal candidate to build on Ray’s work and lead LABTEC into the next stage of its journey.”

“I am confident that under the leadership of André, LABTEC will be at the forefront of our rapidly changing sector, and will continue to provide quality turnkey solutions to our clients.”

Despite these changes in the senior levels of the team, it will be “business as usual” at LABTEC. André will be working with Albert Mok, who has been Head of Product Development since 2008 to share efficiencies and streamline processes with the Envirolab Group and therefore continue to grow from strength to strength in its current service offering of providing quality unbiased solutions in chemical analysis, new product development, testing and production needs.

Tania said, “Albert has been there from the start and as a longstanding and dedicated employee, Albert will provide that continuity and technical knowledge that will be instrumental as LABTEC continues to grow into the future.”

“Albert is affectionately known as our technical guru and besides being a key asset to the entire organisation, Albert is well known and highly respected by our clients and in the industry.”
