Envirolab Celebrates with Ribbon-Cutting Ceremony to Officially Open the New Melbourne Laboratory

Setting the standards for modern laboratory facilities, Envirolab Group officially opened its new Envirolab Services commercial laboratory for its Melbourne operations, this week on Wednesday 1st August 2018, at the location of 25 Research Drive, Croydon South, Victoria 3136.

The new Melbourne laboratory in Croydon South is a growth story. It is about the journey of the last six (6) years from our start-up in Scoresby, to the cutting of the ribbon at our state-of-the-art and spacious premises, surrounded by our special friends and business colleagues.

Guests in attendance enjoyed a tour of the laboratory and plant areas, an array of food and drink, and a formal reception that commenced with a presentation by Managing Director, Tania Notaras, who detailed the history of the organisation and the eventual opening of the Melbourne laboratory in 2012. Tania also acknowledged and individually thanked those involved throughout the journey.

Beginning with a small team of five (5), Analisa Mathrick, was instrumental in setting up the laboratory in Scoresby.

“The lab grew steadily over its first four (4) years of operation under Analisa’s leadership. Everyone appreciated Analisa’s selfless desire to assist, solve problems or go above and beyond to quickly get out results to our clients, often at the sacrifice of her personal time,” said Tania.

“As the business continued to grow, Analisa was rewarded for her efforts by being promoted to a Group Business Development Role. In 2016, Pamela Adams was also promoted and moved from our Perth lab to carry on and build on Analisa and the team’s great work.”

We are thankful for all the hard work and dedication of Suk Lee, Marian Saad, Chris De Luca and Chaminda Gunasekara, who have been with us from our early days and helped facilitate our growth.”

“The new Melbourne laboratory also demonstrates our long-term commitment to our clients. Without our clients, Envirolab would not exist.”

“We are very grateful for our clients’ continued support and trust over the years, and value the relationship that we have. And of course, we look forward to many more years of success, as we continue to improve communities and the environment.”

“In this project, as in our business, we always strive to live by our market message, Great Science, Great Service. This new facility embodies the phrase by providing the systems and environment of the highest quality to support our team to deliver the results.”

A second presentation and the official ribbon-cutting ceremony was then conducted by Dr. Andrew Woolnough, Senior Adviser, Office of the Lead Scientist from the Department of Economic Development, Jobs, Transport and Resources. Dr. Woolnough attended the event on behalf of Dr. Amanda Caples, Victoria’s Lead Scientist, who was unable to attend the event due to illness.

“As a knowledge economy, we rely on businesses such as Envirolab, who make a significant contribution to Victoria’s economy,” said Dr. Woolnough.

“I also want to applaud Envirolab’s commitment to diversity, with 60 per cent of senior leadership roles filled by women.”

The move to 25 Research Drive, Croydon South, Victoria 3136 is also symbolic of Envirolab’s active involvement to give back to the community and the industry.

‘When we first heard the words, “Research Drive,” we were immediately excited about the location,’ said Tania.

“The street name reflects our active involvement in giving back to the community and the profession by supporting staff development and inspiring education and learning of our future leaders in the field of science and the practice of chemistry.”

“I know Envirolabs offers work experience and industry placements for students from Year 9 right through to university – we need more companies to follow Envirolab’s lead,” added Dr. Woolnough.
