Tania Notaras

Managing Director

As founder and Managing Director, Tania is responsible for the strategic planning, mergers and acquisitions, business operations, staff development and various other activities that drive the vision and continued growth of Envirolab Group.

Tania has over 28 years of practical experience in science, which extends to the analysis of contamination in the environment; hazardous materials; petrochemicals and pharmaceuticals. With fierce determination and a passion for helping others, Tania gives back to the science and particularly the chemistry profession by supporting the career development of Envirolab staff. Tania offers industry placements for students, supports a variety of student development programs and sponsors technical and professional meetings.

From personal efforts and strategic alliances, Tania is today sought for expert technical advice and guidance by decision makers in industry and government institutions. These services have extended to assisting in the setting of industry standards and offering advice on regulations, and recognition through industry award nominations. Tania also actively and voluntarily undertakes senior leadership roles in Institute affairs. This is illustrated by her 2015 - 2017 successful nomination to the RACI NSW Branch as President-Elect and election to the RACI Board as an Ordinary Board Member.

In 2017, Tania took over as President of the RACI NSW Branch. Some of her key areas of focus include ensuring a smooth operation of the branch, enhancing membership value and increasing the number of memberships to include scientists in commercial laboratories and in the industry as well as academics.

Tania is a NATA Technical Assessor, IANZ Technical Expert and is a UNSW Senior Adjunct Lecturer. Currently appearing on regular basis as a guest presenter at various events and programs focused on the education and continued growth of the scientific sector, Tania is passionate about achieving gender equality science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) disciplines.

In her spare time Tania hikes long distances to raise money for charities - having survived the 60km team trekking challenge in 2016, Tania took part in the 30km Sydney Coast in 2019 to raise funds for the The Fred Hollows Foundation. Tania also loves to travel with her husband whenever there is half a chance. Favourite holiday spots include Hawaii, or Australia’s very own Yamba. In 2017, and to mix things up, Tania, her husband, and daughter ventured on an adventure to Africa, successfully climbing Mount Meru and Mount Kilimanjaro in Tanzania. In May 2019, Tania will be embarking on a sea adventure around Australia on the sailing vessel, Paradise. Tania also loves dogs and has two adorably excitable puppies.
