The Lab at a Glance: In Situ Chemical Oxidation

The Lab at a Glance: In Situ Chemical Oxidation

n situ chemical oxidation (ISCO) is a process used to treat different contaminants, primarily chlorinated solvents and petroleum hydrocarbons on site. However, all oxidisable Organics can also be targeted.

Prior to the 'in situ' process, Envirolab can conduct a bench scale trial with soil treatments over different time periods to determine the Natural Oxidant Demand (NOD) or the Soil Oxidant Demand (SOD). This trial can determine the persulfate consumption due to the background soil (NOD) consumed by the background plus the contaminant (SOD).

The data can assist to determine the dosing rates for persulfate, which is needed to remediate your site.

Envirolab Services conducts this test regularly. Ask us about assisting with your next ISCO project by emailing or calling us on 1300 424 344.
