Envirolab Group Achieves ISO Certification for Quality and Information Security

Envirolab Group, a leader in quality environmental contamination testing services, has announced its achievement of two ISO certifications, ISO 9001:2015 and ISO 27001:2013 for Quality and Information Security Management Systems across its business operations in Australia. Following an extensive audit process of the company’s internal operations and systems, certification was issued by the Joint Accreditation System of Australia and New Zealand (JAS-ANZ).

Over the past several years, the Australian-owned and operated company, Envirolab, has grown rapidly where the delivery of quality environmental contamination testing services remains at the forefront of its operations. An effective quality management system, which is also an internationally recognised standard, accordingly demonstrates our culture of continuous improvement in delivering services that meet client needs. The recent COVID-19 restrictions during 2020, which required the business to move to remote data almost overnight, also meant that risks associated with data security increased significantly.

Our compliance with these internationally recognised standards and codes of practice demonstrates our ongoing commitment to quality management and information security at every level of our organisation. In addition to the two ISO certifications, Envirolab also currently has ISO certification for compliance with ISO 45001:2018 and ISO 14001:2015 for Health and Safety and Environment Management systems. Envirolab also currently meets all the requirements of ISO 17025, the main ISO standard used by third-party laboratories to demonstrate competency in operations and the ability to generate quality results.

Tania Notaras, Founder and Managing Director of Envirolab said: “The addition of the two ISO certifications is great news for Envirolab.”

“Achieving certification is a huge accomplishment and testament to our ongoing commitment to providing the highest level of quality service whilst ensuring the optimum security of information. We will continue to ensure our activities exceed the standards and expectations of our clients as well as within the industry that we operate in.”

Envirolab has diligently worked towards adhering to the ISO standards, which enabled our certification. The company extends a special thanks to Matthew Mansfield and James Goddard for their hard work and dedication in driving such a successful outcome. They were the driving force in gaining certification.

Matthew Mansfield, Quality, Health Safety and Environment (QHSE) Manager said: “Achieving ISO certification was a rigorous and thorough process that required the engagement of our entire organisation.”

“Adoption of these processes and procedures ensures that our customers receive consistent, reliable and quality laboratory testing services as well as continued quality improvement, increased operational efficiency and enhanced accountability – I’m proud to have been involved in, and to continue to be involved in driving a variety of quality and safety certifications that will enhance Envirolab’s commercial opportunities as a leader in environmental contamination services.”

James Goddard, Information Security Manager, added, “In the delivery of services, the safety of our clients’ information is a top priority for us - it’s great to be formally recognised for areas including our cyber security efforts and I’m looking forward to also to be part of ongoing efforts that will ensure Envirolab follows the highest level of standards in the management of personal information and the data security of our clients, partners and staff.”

About ISO and the importance of internationally recognised management systems

The International Organization for Standardization (ISO) is an international standard-setting body composed of representatives from various national standards organisations. The setting of a global standard for management systems ensures the efficiency of services, products and international supply chains.

About ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management System

ISO 9001 is an international standard dedicated to Quality Management Systems (QMS). With the most recent update in 2015, which is commonly referred to as ISO 9001:2015, this global standard is based on a number of quality management principles, including the ability to focus on customer requirements and constantly finding ways to improve and become resilient and sustainable. The standard accordingly ensures that Envirolab’s customers receive consistent and good quality scientific services.

About ISO 27001:2013 Information Security Management System

ISO/IEC ISO 27001:2013 is an international standard for IT systems that provides policies and procedures for maintaining the security of an organisation’s IT assets. A major part of the standard is keeping an organisation’s risk management strategy in check, identifying problems that may put a company’s data at risk and putting into place the processes and procedures to prevent problems occurring. Gaining the certification for this standard means that Envirolab is compliant with international security management guidelines, is taking active steps to minimise risk exposure and protecting the company, assets, its clients and stakeholders.
