Envirolab is proud to announce that February 2020 marks 15 years of our Sydney laboratory and founding operations for the Envirolab Group. During this month, we are also respectively celebrating 10 years since MPL Laboratories joined the Envirolab family.
It is a timely opportunity to celebrate the organisation’s history and acknowledge the vital role the company has played in exceeding client expectations in the delivery of quality and timely results in environmental contamination testing.
Envirolab Services Pty Ltd was founded in 2005 through the purchase of JET Laboratories, in Willoughby, a suburb located on the lower North Shore of Sydney, before relocating to its current location in Chatswood in 2008.
Our company has since attained many achievements and accomplishments we are proud of, and include:

Industry-leading Turnaround Time (TAT) performance consistently above 97%.

Addition of MPL Laboratories in 2010, establishment of Envirolab Services Melbourne in 2012 and the recent acquisition of LABTEC in 2017 has expanded our laboratory operations in Australia and New Zealand.

Establishment of support offices in Adelaide, Brisbane, and Darwin to support our laboratory operations.

Today, our laboratory services in Australia and New Zealand include hundreds of tests accredited by NATA and IANZ.

Impeccable safety record, which includes certification for Health and Safety Management Systems (AS/NZS 4801:2001 and ISO 45001:2018) We have also achieved certification for Environmental Management (ISO 14001:2015).

Longstanding support and involvement with educational institutions, qualifying bodies, volunteer and not-for-profit initiatives as well as various other activities in the broader community relating to the continued development of science, and with a particular focus on gender parity in STEM fields – in last few years alone, we have been committed to a variety of projects with RACI (Royal Australian Chemical Institute), UTAS, Macquarie University, scientific research and journal publications, grants focused on the development of technological solutions for emerging contaminants as well as offering future leaders with opportunities to develop their interests and skills, gain work experience and then acquire employment upon the completion of their studies.
These milestones and achievements would not have been attained without our staff’s significant commitment and loyalty during the last 15 years of operations. Being there from the acquisition of JET Laboratories in 2005, Laboratory Manager Nancy Zhang and Chemist Manju Dewendrage have seen it all.
Manju (pictured) said, “It’s amazing how much has changed. There were only 4 of us doing all the testing in one room. Now we have different laboratory sections and departments where manual processes are automated and we have implemented so many safety procedures.”
“Despite this growth, we couldn’t be closer as a team with all the different events, sports programs and social activities we have organised throughout the year,” Manju added.
To mark the last 15 years of operation, an event will be held for the team members in Sydney. “I’m often asked why Envirolab has been so successful over the last 15 years, and my answer is simple,” said Founder and Managing Director, Tania Notaras.
